The Center for Public Policy Research (CPPR) at the University of California, Davis serves state government and academic institutions by providing research services to support social policy and practice development in such areas as poverty, child abuse, welfare, mental health, child development, public health, and substance abuse in California.

Scope of services
In an effort to support policy decisions in the human services and child welfare arena, CPPR provides specialized expertise in many areas, including:

  • methodological support
  • statistical analysis of population-based survey data
  • analyses of administrative data
  • study of associations between CalWORKs and child welfare system
  • literature reviews, policy analysis, and technical writing

Specific areas of research expertise include:

  • poverty and child abuse links
  • after-effects of child abuse and poverty
  • mental health treatment effectiveness
  • long-term outcomes of foster care
  • child-caregiver relationships

Providing expertise from the University of California
CPPR operates as a partnership between the UC Davis Department of Psychology and The Center for Human Services at UC Davis Extension, and it draws on the research expertise of many other UC faculty and departments.
