The Center for Public Policy Research (CPPR) at the University of California, Davis serves state government and academic institutions by providing research services to support social policy and practice development in such areas as poverty, child abuse, mental health, welfare, substance abuse, prisons, and corrections.
Scope of services
In an effort to support policy decisions in human services, corrections and rehabilitation programs throughout California, CPPR provides specialized expertise in many areas, including:
- methodological support
- statistical analysis of population-based survey data
- analyses of administrative data
- literature reviews, technical writing, and policy analysis
- survey research
- experimental design/laboratory research
- meeting facilitation
- training and development
Specific areas of research expertise include:
- poverty and child abuse links
- mental health treatment and effectiveness
- long-term effects of foster care
- obstacles facing newly released inmates
- evidence-based research on recidivism
- factors placing people at risk for imprisonment
- attachment theory within foster care and prison settings
- after-effects of child abuse and poverty
- trauma and memory
- trial consultation on legal issues involving child welfare
- expert consultation on forensic interviews
- social marketing campaigns affecting the reduction of recidivism
