A Synopsis of Prohibitions Facing Newly-Released Inmates
CPPR recently finalized a literature review on the short- and long-term obstacles newly released prisoners face when they leave prison.
Reentry Advisory Committee Meeting Facilitation
CPPR organized and facilitated a public meeting for the California Reentry Advisory Committee—a statewide committee charged (by the tenets of AB 3064) with the successful planning, implementation, and outcomes of all reentry programs and services offered by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
Religion in California Prisons: A Pilot Study
Through CPPR, a UC-based statistician constructed a sampling plan to determine the religious affiliations of current prisoners within California, and, by extension, the types of chaplains needed within its prisons. Some studies show access to religion facilitates positive changes.
Defining and Measuring Recidivism Rates
In September 2007, CPPR coordinates a conference with experts interested in defining recidivism. The objectives of the conference are to develop clear definitions, as well as common methodological strategies, so that California can properly determine which interventions work to reduce recidivism.
