About the Reentry Advisory Committee
The Reentry Advisory Committee (RAC) was established under AB 3064 (Chapter 782, Statutes of 2006) to advise the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation "on matters related to the successful statewide planning, implementation, and outcomes of all reentry programs and services by the department, with the goal of reducing recidivism."
The committee is chaired by Matthew Cates, Secretary of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and its members include representatives from city and county government; state law enforcement; Departments of Mental Health, Social Services, and Health Services; Labor and Workforce Development Agency; County Alcohol and Drug Program Administrators Association; and experts in low-income housing, restorative justice, vocational training, and community corrections and reentry services.
